Another launch this evening for the Penlee Inshore lifeboat ‘Mollie and Ivor Dent’. At 7.00pm, a small rib with three persons onboard, broke down about 200-metres east of Penzance Harbour. A fresh easterly wind was blowing the rib towards rocks near the Pump House behind Penzance Railway Station. Falmouth Coastguard Operations Centre requested the help of our Inshore lifeboat and after a quick launch the volunteer crew arrived on scene. Our colleagues from Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team were also tasked and provided valuable VHF comms between the Coastguard and the Inshore lifeboat. Thankfully a local boat saw the danger and managed to connect a tow rope to the rib – the ‘Mollie and Ivor Dent’ then escorted both vessels into Penzance Harbour.
