Yesterday evening (Monday 2 November), The Lizard all-weather lifeboat and Penlee Inshore lifeboat launched to reports of two people swept off the harbour wall into the water at Mullion Cove, making their way in rough sea conditions and strong winds. HM Coastguard helicopter and Coastguard rescue teams were also in attendance.
The lifeboats stood by to assist the search and the two people were winched from the water by the helicopter and taken to Treliske Hospital. Due to the rough conditions and darkness, the Lizard ALB then escorted Penlee ILB back to Newlyn. Sadly, it has been confirmed that the two have since passed away, and our thoughts are with their family and friends.
